It Takes a Village

Old Fort Steuben Project was founded in 1986 to reconstruct Fort Steuben and spark downtown revitalization. The reconstruction and development of Fort Steuben Park was completed in 2006 and soon drew hundreds of people to the area for tours, events and summer concerts. Seeking to further enhance the downtown and in collaboration with Nelson's of Steubenville, the organization created a holiday event, the Steubenville Nutcracker Village, in 2015. Now in its fifth year, this delightful and unique celebration has definitely helped revive the downtown and stirred up pride and enthusiasm in long-time residents.

You've heard it said, "It takes a village to raise a child." In this case, it took a village to rejuvenate a city! The Nutcracker Village is a result of the efforts of many businesses, organizations, and individuals who have put their talents, treasure and time into developing an event that not only spurs economic growth but brings people from all over the nation for a new holiday tradition. We encourage visitors to thank all those who have contributed in some way, especially Trinity Health System, and all those listed in our Holiday Guide. The Steubenville Nutcracker Village is an apolitical, non-controversial and a joyful intergenerational event and Historic Fort Steuben is proud to be a part of it. Be sure to include a visit this holiday season!
