New Year News

Here at Historic Fort Steuben, we don't make resolutions - but we do make plans. And for 2022, we plan to enhance and add to the many programs and events on our annual schedule; this year there will be something that appeals to every interest.

Our Christmas at the Fort was well received, and we greeted hundreds of people to see 18th century frontier life. So many commented on how much history they learned and how much more they appreciated 21st century conveniences!

Now we are packing away Christmas, cleaning, and clearing space for several upcoming exhibits. History lovers can celebrate the opening on February 7 of Reimagining America: The Maps of Lewis and Clark. This national traveling exhibit, created by the Lewis and Clark Heritage Foundation, reveals the unique "technology" that the Corps of Discovery used on their exploration of the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase. The exhibit will run until March 4 and is free.

Next, the Fort welcomes art lovers to view the beautiful works of local artists as the Steubenville Art Association presents a Spring Art Show, from March 7-30. A wide variety of styles and media will be on display, some for sale as well.

One of our most popular exhibits returns from April 4-18, The Joy of Quilts. This display by local artisans always surprises us with the amazing fabrics, colors, and themes that make the annual quilt show a joy to visit.

All exhibits are free and open from 10-4, Monday through Friday at the Visitor Center. Additional hours can be arranged by calling ahead.
