Help Bring Baron von Steuben Home
A Permanent Tribute at Historic Fort Steuben Park
A Legacy Worth Preserving
Historic Fort Steuben is launching an exciting campaign to commission a life-size bronze statue of Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, the Prussian military officer whose leadership transformed George Washington's Continental Army and helped secure American independence.
The statue will become a permanent centerpiece of Fort Steuben Park, welcoming thousands of visitors each year while honoring the man for whom both Fort Steuben and the City of Steubenville were named.

Why This Matters
The Baron von Steuben Statue will:
• Honor one of America's founding military leaders.
• Celebrate the namesake of Fort Steuben and Steubenville.
• Enhance Historic Fort Steuben Park as a cultural destination.
• Inspire future generations through public art and history.
• Serve as a lasting legacy during America's 250th Anniversary celebration and beyond.
The Vision
The sculpture is being created by nationally recognized sculptor Erik Christianson under the direction of Master Sculptor Jerry McKenna, whose work includes the Calvin Jones statue at Harding Stadium in Steubenville and numerous acclaimed sculptures throughout the University of Notre Dame campus.
